Helpful Tips
Regular
vacuuming -
Vacuum
your carpet at least once per week using a vacuum with an agitating
brush. Heavy traffic areas should be vacuumed more often. Make sure
your brush is adjusted at the proper setting for your carpet style.
Prompt
attention to food and beverage spills - Quickly clean
up the spill and you are less likely to have permanent damage to
your carpets. Please see our FAQs section
for proper procedure for cleaning up spills.
Chewing
gum or candle wax spills - Freeze with ice or a commercially
available product in an aerosol can. Shatter with a blunt object
and vacuum before the chips soften. Follow up with a solvent such
as Avenge.
Periodic
professional cleaning - Research by the leading fiber
producers and carpet makers agree that regular cleaning by a competent
professional will extend the life and beauty of your carpet. Have
the carpet cleaned before it starts to show soil. Carpets are made
to hide soil. Frequent professional cleaning will remove the abrasive
substances that scratch and distort the fibers appearance. Cleaning
high traffic areas every 3 to 6 months is normal.
Preventative
maintenance - Walk-off mats should be used at all entrances
to absorb soil and moisture, and mats should be cleaned on a regular
basis so they don't become sources of soil themselves.
